Charity dealing with family grief given $10,000 boost
A charity specializing in helping families dealing with grief has been awarded $10,000 by the International Women’s Club.
The philanthropic organization said that Gina Spence Productions met its four goals of “promoting intellectual growth, to encourage social fellowship, to assist in the integration of newcomers to Bermuda and to provide service to the community”.
The IWC stated that its 2023 grants would go to charities associated with children and families, food insecurity and mental health.
Sandra Christensen, the organization’s vice-president of philanthropy, said: “The IWC chose Gina Spence Productions and the Champions Programme to be the recipients of our 2023 grant because we felt that it touched on all of the pillars that we were looking to support in a charity. We were moved by the good work that this charity is doing dealing with tragic loss and supporting families and children, not just emotionally, but providing them with whatever resources are needed to help these families impacted by senseless violence. We are very proud to help them in their good work in the community.”
Mykiee Jones, the COO of GSP, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by the International Women’s Club to receive this generous donation.
“We pride ourselves on ensuring that no child grieves alone and every champion is given the compassion, care and support needed to deal with the loss of a parent specific to a gun or gang-related homicide.
“The Champions Programme continues to thrive due to the support from donors such as the IWC and many others in which we are thankful.” The Champions Programme supports families affected by homicide.
