The Club Celebrates its 40th Anniversary during Jessica Ray’s Term
Jessica Ray served as President during the 2021 to 2023. We celebrated the end of the 40th year of the club in December 2021 at the 40th Anniversary Holiday Gala at the Hamilton Princess with dinner, dancing and a live band! There was significant growth in membership during this time to over 270 members. 61 new members joined the club in 2021/22 and another 65 new members joined the club in 2022/23. Approximately half of the new members who join the Club are working women. We established the Working Girls group to organize activities geared towards those who work 9 to 5 jobs. We also formed another nighttime Cook Club and a monthly Games Night group.
Our philanthropy efforts continue to be an important focus of the Club. During the 2021 holiday season we raised more than $8,500 to fill Holiday hampers for The Family Center and to give Christmas gifts to 55 seniors at the Lorraine and Packwood retirement homes. In external events we received $1,200 for supplying volunteers to the PGA Bermuda Championship which we donated to The Women’s Resource Centre’s Transformational Living Centre. We also raised $4,300 for Relay for Life. Our 2022 Grant recipient of $12,000 was Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda. Leading up to the 2022 holidays we raised $4.400 for The Family Centre Holiday Hamper Food Drive and $3,200 for the Seniors’ Christmas gifts given to the residents of the Lorraine and Packwood homes. We also created a selection of every day cards to be sold throughout the year featuring art work from our talented members. The 2023 Grants given totaled $14,000. Gina Spence Productions were awarded $10,000 & Big Brothers Big Sisters Bermuda were awarded $4,000. Our grants awarded included the money raised by members volunteering at the PGA Championship. At the 10th Annual Relay for Life event our team raised $5,500 for Bermuda Cancer and Health
