PHILANTHROPY
IWC is pleased to play a philanthropic role in the local community. Grant making adheres to our “three pillars of giving.” In 2025, the focus is children and families, education and health. Grant funding comes from membership revenues, community sponsorships and sales of IWC merchandise.
The annual grant process starts with a call for proposals in January with grant applications due in March. Grants are formally awarded in June, following board approval in May.
Recent grants: In 2025, IWC made three grant awards totaling $17,500. The grants included $7,500 to Peak Potential, $5,000 to Bermuda Autism Support and Education (BASE) and another $5,000 to Saving Children and Revealing Secrets (SCARS). Here is a List of prior grantees
The Grant Application is available upon request during the grant period. Please contact IWC Philanthropy Chair, Jennifer Bull at philanthropy@iwcbda.com
PGA Golf Tour
The Butterfield Bermuda Golf Championship is an annual fall event. Every year the PGA gives donations to charities for every 3 shifts that a team member carries out. Each triple shift earned $200. Due to the dedication of IWC members and their families, IWC raised several thousand dollars every year! To sign up, register your availability at www.butterfieldbdachampionship.com select "charitable organization volunteer" and, when prompted, select "International Women’s Club".
Relay for Life
Relay for Life is a community-based fundraising event organized by the American Cancer Society to support cancer research, honor survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and raise awareness about cancer prevention and treatment. IWC Bermuda participates every year, please be on a look out for our team registration announcement in our spring newsletters!
In addition to registrations, we raise funds through sale of Luminaire Bags. Members are encouraged to buy and decorate the bags which will then take part in the Luminaria Ceremony.
KBB Great Big Bermuda Clean Up
Every year the IWC partners up with the KBB during their Great Big Bermuda Clean Up, to help clean up a different area of the island. All welcome, so bring friends and family to join in the fun, plus a pair of gardening / work gloves if you have them. Extra gloves, bags and litter pickers etc will be provided by the KBB.
Holiday Food Hampers
During the holiday season, IWC provides food hampers packed with necessities and holiday goodies for families in need through The Family Centre. Funding comes from the generous donations of IWC members!
Senior Gift Bags
Every year in December, IWC members fund and pack gift bags for residents of the Lorraine and Packwood Homes. The gift bags are funded through the generous donations of IWC members.
Please refer to the instructions on how to donate if you like to donate to Holiday Food Hamper and Senior Gift Bags.
IWC has an informal partnership with the Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda. One of its initiatives seeks to connect skilled individuals with meaningful opportunities to contribute to Bermuda’s nonprofit community.
Additionally, IWC frequently becomes aware of opportunities for individual volunteer positions – some are short-term, others are long-term. Please contact IWC Secretary at secretary@iwcbda.com for open volunteering positions.
